Our Sustainable Orchard Partnership program, launched in 2021, now covers 100 certified farms across Thailand, reducing pesticide use by 35% and introducing precision irrigation systems.
Siam Orchard Harvest's Sustainable Orchard Partnership (SOP) program has reached a significant milestone, with 100 partner farms across Chanthaburi, Rayong, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Ratchasima now certified under the program.
Launched in 2021 in collaboration with the Thai Department of Agriculture and the Sustainable Agriculture Foundation of Thailand, the SOP program provides participating farmers with:
- GAP (Good Agricultural Practice) certification support and ongoing guidance
- Soil health assessment and precision fertilization programs
- Drip irrigation and water management technology
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM) training to reduce chemical use
- Fair price agreements with 3-year supply commitments
- Direct access to Siam Orchard's agronomist team year-round
Results from the first three years of the program are encouraging. Participating farms have reduced pesticide use by an average of 35%, lowered water consumption by 28%, and achieved a 12% improvement in marketable yield due to better orchard management.
'This program is the foundation of our quality supply chain,' says Head of Agricultural Relations Suphatra Khongchai. 'When farmers prosper and farm sustainably, we get better fruit, and our customers get better products. It's a virtuous cycle.'
Siam Orchard plans to expand the program to 200 farms by 2026, with a particular focus on mangosteen orchards in Southern Thailand.
